Our Dance Classes

Focusing on The Skills, Not the Frills!!

The Dance Programs at The Fit Physique are unlike any other. We focus on age-appropriate music and movement- not on competitions, skin-baring costumes, or makeup-laden recitals.  We hold our beautiful, intimate performances at the end of our dance year in our spacious studio-  the weekend before Memorial Day in May. There are no recital or expensive costume fees – only a fun, quality demonstration of everything the student has learned. The dancer still gets the experience of performing, without all the cost and fuss of the typical recital. We offer classes for both adults and children. In fact, our adult classes are so popular, we have one of the largest adult dance programs in Western New York!

               DANCE SHOW DATES FOR 2019*
Our annual dance shows will be held the weekend of MAY 18 AND 19, 2019. Please mark your calendars and reserve these dates, as you (adult dancers) or your child will be performing on one or both of these days. Please also note that the mandatory Children’s Dress Rehearsal will be FRIDAY, MAY 17, and the Adult Performances will be THURSDAY, MAY 16. 

 

  • Ballet – Ages 4 and Up
    Ballet is a fun and graceful way to develop strength,  flexibility, posture, technique, and confidence. This is an essential course for the well-rounded dancer.
  • Tots Tap – Age 3
    For the young dancer just starting out! Develops basic motor coordination skills and musicality in a fun, playful atmosphere.
  • Tap – Ages 4 to Adult
    An audible dance form, tap is effective in stimulating a sense of rhythm and beat. A wonderful way to develop motor skills.
  • Cheer Dance- Ages 6 and up
    Cheer Dance is a mix of dance and cheerleading which incorporates sharp and precise movements choreographed to energetic music.
  • Jazzy Hip Hop – Ages 6 to Adult
    A Fit Physique Specialty! An age and music-appropriate introduction to two fun and contemporary styles of dance- jazz and hip hop!
  • Contemporary – Ages 9 and up
    For our experienced dancers, Contemporary is a style of dance combining ballet, jazz, and lyrical dance techniques. Jazz dance experience required

  • Jazz– Teen to Adult                                                                                    

    A stylized form of dance that involves isolations, stretch, jumps, turns, and contemporary combinations.  

  • Ballet Body- Teen to Adult                                                                              
    If you have admired the long, lean muscles of a ballerina, this class is for you! An easy-to-follow introduction to ballet-style exercises with a fitness focus. You’ll gracefully tone your lower body, arms, and core as you improve your balance and flexibility.
  • Latin Cardio Party! – Adult
    An energetic dance and fitness class that combines Latin music and moves (chacha, merengue, etc.) in a fun, party-like atmosphere! Burn calories while you shimmy, shake your hips, and dance!
